Stolen Votes - by Joseph Guion
Review by Jean Keating and Sherlock Bones

"Stolen Votes Is Joseph Guion's new novel, a fact-based fictional account of the 1986 senatorial election. Its timely release is especially provocative in this month of national elections.

A five-man CIA unit creates a computer program to manipulate elections. A powerful, highly placed, and determined group of Washington, DC insiders attempt to steal the election using murder, kidnapping, computers and satellites to achieve their goal to acquire control of the House and the Presidency.

A ruthless DC lobbyist uses a psychopathic killer to murder two of the programmers. The narrative opens with the third execution eliminating the man who hacked into the Truth Network's computers. Two of the hacker's friends witness the murder and become targets in the morass of murder and kidnapping.

In the face of such power and money, Dan, the Cat, Haggerty, a disgraced former Navy SEAL with an addiction to solving his problems by climbing into a bottle of Scotch, struggles to lead the opposition to this plan. He fights to regain his once sharpened warrior skills, prevent his own murder by professional killers, and foil the plot leaders who hold his girl friend, Beth Olson hostage. His action-packed exploits, aided by two SEAL buddies make for an exciting and fast-paced read.

Joseph Guion is a retired Navy captain. Among other commands, he was in charge of the USS KIOWA when that ship made history by recovering the first space monkeys. His dialogue is crisp and believable, his characters are gritty and three dimensional, as he writes from experiences with naval characters who populate this exciting novel."
